New TurkStream gas pipeline will supply Turkey and Europe

The Turkish president and his Russian counterpart inaugurated this Wednesday a gas structure of more than 30,000 million cubic meters of gas

The presidents of Turkey and Russia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin, inaugurated on Wednesday the TurkStream gas pipeline, a project with more than 30,000 million cubic meters of gas ready to supply the Turkish region and Europe.

With this new pipeline, Turkey guarantees the energy supply of its large cities to the west and imposes a little more, as an important energy convergence point. This project is not only beneficial for the Turkish country, but Russia will also seek to supply southern and southeastern Europe.

The structure is formed by two parallel ducts about 930 km long that connect Anapa, in Russia, with Kiyikoy, in northwestern Turkey.

Despite the serious diplomatic crisis in 2015 between Russia and Turkey, the pipeline represents the efforts of both nations and the approach they have maintained to strengthen cooperation and productivity ties.

For his part, Erdogan stressed that “we have not let our recent differences of opinion get ahead of our common interests” by referring to this agreement established with the Russian nation.
