Netflix begins restoring 4K resolution in Europe

The entertainment service announced that it will make this option available as network conditions improve

The streaming platform Netflix has returned to normal in some European countries, where it has restored video playback with its maximum allowed resolution of 4K HDR.

Last March, coinciding with the arrival of the coronavirus in Europe and with the implementation of measures to combat the pandemic, Netflix promised at the request of the European Union to reduce the bit rate in all its streamings in Europe with the goal of reducing traffic by 25% and thus using less Network during confinement by Covid-19.

Now Netflix users in various European countries including Germany, Norway and Denmark can go back to using the highest quality 4K HDR allowed, with a maximum bit rate of 15 Mb/s, as collected by Gizmodo UK.

“As network conditions improve, we will begin to lift the limits, country by country,” confirmed a company spokesperson.

Likewise, from the company they assure to have reinforced in the last two months “in more than four times the normal capacity” of the platform to “face the increase in demand and help to maintain the quality” of service for users.
