NASA warns of a giant asteroid’s approach to Earth

With a dimension of 1.8 kilometers long and 4.1 kilometers wide, the body is called 52768

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has warned of an asteroid’s approach to Earth in mid-April. As in previous cases, this is not a recent discovery and is presumed to be harmless to the planet.

Under this calm perspective, the Space Agency has released through its official blog and some of its social networks the size and dimensions of the rocky body that is called 52768 (1998 OR2), which is 1.8 kilometers long and 4.1 kilometers wide.

Perhaps in that context it was that NASA, at the time, named the asteroid as a star that would cause considerable damage if it hit Earth.

The object does not represent a risk to Earth because the minimum distance that the object will pass will be six times greater than that which separates our planet from the Moon. It will actually pass by one side of our planet without causing further havoc.

The closest approach is scheduled for April 29 and is located at a distance of 6.29 million kilometers from Earth at a speed of about 31 thousand kilometers per hour.
