Naples works on its own cryptocurrency

In search of its economic autonomy Naples develops its own digital currency, which still has no name, but which will be used in all the commercial activities of the city

The Italian city of Naples approved in October 2018 a municipal law in favor of the adoption of cryptocurrencies. The city seeks to promote complementary forms of payment to the traditional means, so it decided to develop its own digital currency.

The cryptographic currency will be based on blockchain technology that allows the transfer of financial data in a secure, reliable and irreversible manner.

In the same way, the idea of the cryptoactive arises within the framework of the “Naples autonomous city” project, which aims to make the municipality and the town more independent.

For his part, Mayor Luigi De Magistris says: “We are the first city in Italy that has launched a deliberation on the blockchain and cryptocurrency. We will not issue new money bills, nor will we substitute the euro. Naples will have a new virtual currency that will allow us to act with greater transparency in public administration.”

We must emphasize that the person who wants to cancel something using the new form of payment must download the digital wallet on his mobile. Citizens will be able to save the cryptoactive while customers and merchants will be able to make transactions and save money.
