Money exchange offices start selling foreign currency in Venezuela

In September 2018, the Venezuelan government approved the sale of foreign currency to individuals through exchange houses. However, the interested parties had to wait until the publication of the resolution by the Central Bank through the Official Gazette number 41,580 of February 6th.

Citizens have two options currently to acquire dollars and euros in each office. Italcambio and Zoom House of Exchange are the two exchange to which they can go according to the specifications of each one.

The first establishment offers natural persons dollars and euros, while Zoom Casa de Cambio only offers operations with dollars for the moment. The authorities expect that as time goes by demand increases.

Although the information had been disseminated at the beginning of this month, there is data of interest to the clients, such as the number of agencies available from both exchanges and the payment method when acquiring the currencies.

Between both exchange houses they offer a hundred offices throughout Venezuela. However, the sale of dollars and euros is limited to a small group. Zoom Casa de Cambio has a branch in Caracas with its office in La Urbina and people who want to acquire dollars must register on their website to reduce time at the box office.

For its part, Italcambio is located in the central Urdaneta Avenue and Altamira – east of the capital city, and currently manages official prices for the sale and purchase of officially established dollars.

On the form of payment, it was known that customers can cancel their operations at the box office with cash or debit card.
