Microsoft earnings grew 21% in first fiscal quarter

Microsoft technology company showed a net profit of $ 10.678 million in its first fiscal quarter, ended in September, which is equivalent to an increase of 21% over the same period last year.

“The world’s leading companies are choosing our cloud to build their digital capabilities,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

The turnover between July and September stood at 33.055 million dollars, up 13.7%. By business segments, revenues from services advanced 46.7%, to 17,287 million dollars, while revenues from products contracted 8.9%, to 15,768 million dollars.

The total expenses associated with income advanced 5%, up to 10,406 million dollars, of which 7,101 million corresponded to the services division, while the cost of the products stood at 3,305 million dollars, 9.4 % less.

The research and development item reached $ 4,565 million, up 14.8%, while sales and marketing expenses grew 5.8% to $ 4,337 million. General and administrative costs contracted 7.7%, up to 1,061 million dollars.

“We are accelerating innovation over all our technology to achieve more value for our customers and we are investing in large and growing markets with expansion opportunities”, Nadella said.
