Microsft is on alert for attacks increase

The software and hardware creator issued a warning about the vulnerability presented in BlueKeep, which takes advantage of a bug in the Reomoto Desktop Protocol (RDP)

Microsoft alerted the community about the growth of BlueKeep vulnerability attacks, which take advantage of a failure in the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). It allows the connection between two computers with Windows system with the objective of mining cryptocurrencies.

The company reported in a statement about a joint investigation with cybersecurity experts in which they discovered an RDP exploit called Bluekeep. This software vulnerability affects Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 versions.

Although the company released a security patch for these attacks in May 2019, this fault once again affected several Windows computers since October through the Metasploit exploit.

The company created by Bill Gates had already implemented detection measures for the Metasploit module in the Microsoft Defender ATP antivirus series in September this year. Thanks to the experience with these farms, the company was able to verify that the module was unstable and that for this reason the attacks on the most vulnerable software had increased.

The investigation indicated that the BlueKeep operation was to install cryptocurrency miners in the most unstable systems. They also noted that it had affected several countries such as Spain, France, Russia and Italy. The infrastructure to which all these miners were connected was located in Israel.
