Mexico tests blockchain technology for elections

The blockchain technology tests for the elections on July 1st are being done through the site ebm2018.org

Mexico is preparing for the federal elections next July 1st. The campaigns have been described as the most expensive in history. As a preamble to the elections, the authorities have launched the site ebm2018.org through which citizens can make a simulation of the presidential election.

It is an initiative based on blockchain technology, which offers security and transparency, as well as avoiding fraudulent situations such as identity theft, double or null votes and other punishable cases in this country and the rest of the continent.

The Mexican government launched the simulation portal in order to test whether the use of this technology in platforms for electoral processes of presidential, state and local importance is feasible. The modality has already been tested in banks, higher education institutions and minor assemblies in communities.

The use of blockchain technology for online elections would allow a millionaire savings to governments, since voters can exercise their right to vote from a smartphone. It is an innovation that offers security and comfort to those involved.

The votes of the simulation through the portal ebm2018.org will not be validated, of course. They will be anonymous and confidential. The results will be announced immediately, without being considered as a survey and will not be able to influence the electoral process of July 1st.
