Mayor of Bogotá wins Indigo prize with blockchain project

The Digital Government Innovation Award, Indigo, highlights the proposals adapted to the new times and the demands of the population

Through the Digital Government Innovation Awards, Indigo, Colombia highlights projects that seek to offer solutions framed in new technologies. Last weekend was the award ceremony, where the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá got the first place in the Emerging Technologies category with its “Pilot program of voting for district schools”, based on blockchain.

The Indigo Awards are organized by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation in order to identify and recognize the initiatives, organizations and actors of all the different sectors oriented to the modernization of the processes in the State.

There are a total of eight categories for the participating projects: Digital Services, Digital Processes, Digital Open State, Data Based Decisions, Emerging Technologies, Digital Initiatives in SDOs in State Entities, Digital Innovation in SDOs of Companies / Social Organizations / Academia and Maximum Speed ​​2018.

The winning project was supported by the High Council for ICT in Bogotá, as well as the Ministry of Education, the Research Group INTIColombia and ViveLab Colombia.

Mauricio Tovar, co-director of INTIColombia, said: “(…) Facing the future, this award fills us with a lot of motivation because new developments are coming in. This recognition is very important for the team and constitutes a clear example of the digital transformation that it is having both the National University of Colombia and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá … and in general of Colombia, which thanks to this and many other developments is beginning to insert itself in this fourth industrial revolution“.
