Man arrested in California for alleged robbery of $ 1 million in cryptos

California state authorities arrested a 21-year-old New Yorker for allegedly stealing one million dollars in crypts using SIM exchange

The SIM exchange, also known as port exit scam, involves the theft of a cell phone number in order to hijack online financial and social media accounts, made possible by the fact that many companies use automated messages, phone calls to handle client authentication.

The suspect arrested was identified as Nicholas Truglia, who is accused of attacking wealthy executives in Silicon Valley and having successfully persuaded telecommunications support staff to provide six numbers of victims to his alleged network of attacking accomplices.

California authorities flew to New York City on November 14 to arrest the suspect in his apartment, recovering a physical wallet and $ 300,000 of stolen funds.

Truglia is being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex pending extradition to Santa Clara, California. The formal charges that are imputed correspond to a hack spell, which implies theft, alteration or damage of computer data with the intention of making fraud and using personal information without authorization.
