Malta will store educational certificates with blockchain technology

The government of the island announced the launch of a pilot program that will be in operation for at least two years

The island of Malta has always fight to be the home of technological advances. Now it confirms its purpose with the decision to store educational certificates in a blockchain from now on.

The government of Malta presented a pilot program, which aims to transfer the receipt of educational certificates to a blockchain.

It is planned that this pilot will be in operation for at least two years. In addition, it will apply to all educational levels including the university level.

Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister, indicated that the island became the first country in the world to safeguard educational certificates in this way. “In 2017, we said that Malta will become the blockchain island, and it has done so.”

Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said it was important for the country to adopt the technology, but insisted that this should be done in “a framework of economic growth, social justice and continuous investment in education”.
