A company in charge of games based on blockchain will develop the CryptoKitties style game
Major League Baseball (MLB) plans to launch a collectible digital game based on Ethereum by the end of the summer. The initiative has the support of the specialized blockchain Lucid Sights.
With the launch of this game the MLB hopes to achieve in a greater interest in baseball fans with the promotion: “MLB Crypto Baseball”. It is a platform similar to the well-known CryptoKitties, digital exchange of kittens, also based on Ethereum.
MLB spokespersons have indicated that in the face of the recent downfall of baseball fans’ interest, the collectibles game represents the opportunity to capture the public’s attention and establish a relationship with the teams.
Kenny Gersh, executive vice president of games and new commercial companies of MLB, highlighted as a point in favor of the strategy the public’s taste for collecting items by his favorite artist, singer or player.
The next launch of the MLB digital game is one more example of the close relationship that has developed between the area of sports and digital technologies.
