Lufthansa cancels 23,000 flights until April 24

The airline announced these measures through a statement, which involves countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East

The German airline Lufthansa announced today the cancellation of 23,000 flights until April 24 due to the coronavirus, thus making effective the reduction of its flight plan communicated days ago.

“Affected passengers will be informed of changes and new reservation options as of today”, they said through a statement.

The company also noted that there will probably be more cancellations both in these weeks and in a later period.

Lufthansa reported that flight capacity adjustments mainly affect Europe, Asia and the Middle East and that cancellations will seek to ensure that all destinations with at least one airline in the group can be accessed.

The Lufthansa group has about 780 aircraft in its fleet, which last year accounted for an average of 3,226 flights per day.
