London court denies Maduro’s request on gold

The Venezuelan Government has requested to extract part of the contents of the United Kingdom coffers for the purchase of medicines and food

The London Court rejected Nicolás Maduro’s request to seize control of the Venezuelan gold found in the vaults of the United Kingdom.

This decision was announced by the Venezuelan Special Prosecutor’s Office through a press release, highlighting that any expense of the Venezuelan issuing entity must be based on the prior budget authorization issued by the National Assembly based on article 314 of the Constitution.

As reported by several agencies, the Venezuelan government through the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) would have agreed with the United Nations Development Program to allocate part of the gold found in the English coffers for the purchase of medicines and food.

However, the UK did not accept such a request, so there will be no possibility to withdraw this at the moment by the Maduro government.
