Layoffs in the US have reduced

According to the United States Department of Labor, the subsidy request figures fell to 1.31 million, the lowest figure since March

Weekly jobless claims in the United States continued their downward trend last week, when they fell to 1.31 million, the lowest number since mid-March, according to Labor Department data.

Despite this noticeable slowdown, the number of requests for unemployment benefits in the US still quadruples the figures registered in February and the first weeks of March, before the impact of the pandemic, indicating that US companies are still far to normalize their activity and continue to lay off employees.

Specifically, in the week ended on July 4, initial claims for unemployment benefits reached 1.31 million, below the 1.41 million claims submitted in the previous seven days.

Since the Department of Labor began reporting that applications were being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of grant applications submitted has exceeded 50 million.

On the other hand, the number of unemployed recipients of some type of unemployment aid reached a total of 18.06 million beneficiaries in the week ended June 27, compared to 18.76 million the previous week.
