Law will restrict access to websites to minors in Chile
The Chamber of Deputies of Chile approved a project that aims to regulate the Internet pages, where children can enter or not
On Monday, it was learned that the Chamber of Deputies of Chile approved a bill that aims to regulate children’s Internet access.
Those in charge of the approval were the members of the Science and Technology Commission, who assured that this will come to modify the legal framework currently circulating on the General Telecommunications Law.
It is intended to restrict the access of minors to Internet sites with harmful content for their development.
One of the previous agreements was to modify the title of the proposal, after an assessment made by the deputy Clauda Mix. “The title of the project was changed, precisely because it seeks to protect the parents’ responsibility to exercise parental control, rather than the responsibility of companies to block content. In addition, a wording was established that aims to make that the companies put at the disposal of the users methods or technologies to exercise that control for free,” said the deputy.
