Kraken canceled 250 salaries in bitcoins

The exchange, which has a staff of 800 employees, had this initiative with 30% of its workforce in response to some controversial statements by the CEO of Euro Pacific Capital

This week Kraken cryptocurrency exchange announced that it canceled 250 salaries of its work staff through bitcoins.

“We respect the search for solid money but @PeterSchiff is wrong when he says that” there is no way for people to go to work for wages paid in bitcoin. Kraken paid 250 salaries in bitcoin in April and more employees opt for cryptography every month”, the startup said.

This announcement is a response to the tweet sent by Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital who indicated that there is no way for people to go to work for wages paid in bitcoin.

Schiff replied: “Are wages a fixed amount of bitcoins, or do they have salaries in dollars in which they are paid the bitcoin equivalent in each pay period? If it is the latter, then it does not count.”

Today Kraken has a staff of 800 people, so the 250 who received the payment in bitcoins represent 30% of their workforce.

However, it is necessary to note that not only volatility is one of the obstacles that prevent employers from paying their employees with bitcoin.
