In recent years, the cryptoactive community has received fundamental support from celebrities throughout the world. For example, Eminem’s latest album comments on the growing popularity of bitcoin, while athletes such as Dennis Rodman and Didier Drogba have also shown their support for various projects related to digital currencies.

Also, rapper Akon launched his own cryptographic currency to be used in his “Akron Crypto City.” Likewise, Michael Owen, a Liverpool and Real Madrid goalkeeper, also announced his intention to issue his own cryptocurrency, the token called OWN.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the North American regulator, has already suggested that Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) supported by celebrities can be considered illegal, stating that: “Celebrities who use their social networks to encourage the public to buy shares or other investments could be breaking the law.”
