Japan will launch the new shinkansen Alfa-X

The entry into operation of the new high-speed train is scheduled for 2030, after complying with all safety tests and technical specifications

The first tests of the Alfa-X, the new Japanese bullet train that will be launched in 2030, took place this Friday during the night to avoid the congestion of the railways in the north of the country between the cities of Sendai and Aomori.

The design was entrusted to the company JR East, one of the most important in the Asian country. It reflects the aerodynamics of the machine. “The nose of the first car is 16 meters and the last of 22 meters, the train will not turn around when it reaches its destination, so the aerodynamics of the longer nose will make it possible to face the winds coming from the north.”

Alfa-X will offer users safety and comfort, with a design resistant to snow and low temperatures; greater stability, improved seats with greater separation distance than usual.

The new train will cover the route Tokyo – Sapporo, in northern Japan, which represents a distance of 1,200 kilometers, in an estimated time of four and a half hours. It is expected to reach a speed of 320 km / h with passengers and 400 km / h without passengers.

The investment for the construction of the new shinkansen, in charge of the company Kawasaki Heavy Industries, was about 10,000 million yen (81 million of euros). The first period of continuous testing will start in 2021, with routes to be made twice a week and during the night.

Meanwhile, Japan continues to work on the magnetic levitation train (maglev) with activities scheduled for 2027 and speed of 500 km / h.
