Jamaica Stock Exchange will work with digital assets

The general director of the company confirmed the cooperation with Blockstation for the development of a blockchain platform for its customers

The Stock Exchange of Jamaica (JSE) announced that it will create a new platform for digital assets in the hands of the blockchain startup, Blockstation.

This was confirmed by the director general of the JSE, Marlene Street Forest, who said that this measure is in line with the financial assets currently offered by the company.

“The final game at the end of the day is to exchange chips, the final game is smart contracts and to provide that area of the market that wants this product to begin to do it safely,” said Forest.

On the other hand, the director indicated that the stock exchange will also constantly evaluate the benefits that the blockchain platform can have for its clients, as well as the possibility of launching its own cryptocurrency in the future.

“The environment changes, the whole ecosystem changes, so at that time it could be the case, although at this time it is not an argument,” said the JSE board.
