Britain’s largest car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover will reward users with crypto coins for data sharing. The company announced that it is testing software that will allow users of its vehicles to earn the IOTA digital currency for sharing information.
The firm develops an intelligent wallet that will be installed in their cars. The technology will reward Jaguar car drivers with IOTA coins. In other words, by using this new tool it will be possible to inform navigation service providers or local authorities about traffic congestion or potholes on the road.
Drivers will also be able to earn rewards if the vehicle participates in a shared transport programme. The tokens obtained can be used to pay tolls, park and recharge electric cars.
It is worth emphasizing that car manufacturers around the world are studying and exploring new blockchain applications and discovering different ways to leverage technology to meet business and customer needs.
To conclude, Holger Köther of the IOTA Foundation said: “Our distributed general ledger technology is perfectly suited to enable machine-to-machine payments for smart collections, parking lots and tolls. It also creates opportunities for drivers to earn their own digital currency”.
