Jack Ma is the richest Chinese in the world

The Hurun magazine reported that the founder of Alibaba boasts a wealth of at least 39 billion dollars, and that it grew this year by 35%

This Thursday it was confirmed that the founder of online commerce Alibaba, Jack Ma, is the Chinese with the greatest fortune in the world.

Currently, the Asian holds a fortune of 39 billion dollars, according to the Shanghai-based magazine, Hurun.

Ma’s fortune was up 35% compared to the previous year, largely due to a new round of financing for Ant Financial, his online payment company, the publication said.

This is the second time that the 53-year-old businessman has been among the first four places. Jack announced last month that in 2019 he will step down as CEO of Alibaba.

Ma, who had humble beginnings as an English teacher, became one of the most influential entrepreneurs in China thanks to Alibaba, now valued at 390 billion dollars. Ant Financial is valued at 100 billion dollars.

The number of rich people in the list was reduced by 456 people due to the decline of the Chinese stock markets and the slowdown in the national economy. To enter the list is necessary to have at least a fortune of two billion yuan, about 288 million dollars.
