Intel wants to make mining more efficient

The technological giant Intel hopes to combat high energy consumption of mining with its new patent

The cryptocurrency mining industry is going through one of its most critical stages in terms of increasing the difficulty of mining and high energy prices, aspects that have turned the business into something very unprofitable.

That is why Intel wants to attack the high energy consumption of mining with its new patent. The chip maker applied for a license to use a processor that claims to offer high-performance bitcoin mining (BTC) energy efficient.

The processor is designed to mine crypto currencies built in the SHA-256 algorithm as bitcoin. To make the processor more energy efficient than current systems, Intel developed a chip that goes a step further than ordinary miners.

Energy consumption and its cost are two of the biggest challenges that cryptoactive miners currently face. This month, GMO declared that its mining business had reported losses of 5.5 million dollars during the last quarter.

However, if the market for digital currencies continues its downward path, it will not be surprising if nothing important comes out of this patent, at least until mining becomes lucrative again.
