Intel to introduce improvements with new Rocket Lake-S processor
The brand will offer improvements in the 11th edition of processors, based on microarchitecture to achieve higher performance
Intel had kept details related to its new processor, the Rocket Lake-S, which represents the 11th edition of its equipment, under wraps. However, some features and innovations aimed at increasing performance have been published.
Although the launch is still scheduled for early 2021, users were able to learn about the inclusion in the new Thunderbolt 4 processor with Willow Cov cores. In addition, the Rocket Lake-S “takes advantage of changes in microarchitecture and advances in instructions per clock (IPC) to deliver improved raw performance, generation after generation,” according to the statement.
The new models incorporate the new Cypress Cove architecture, aimed at optimizing the functionality of Intel hardware and software. With this they hope to achieve “an improvement in the percentage CPI of double digits, and to offer Intel UHD graphics renewed with the Intel X graphics architecture”.
The company has also promised better and greater communication between processors. On the other hand, they have indicated that the new model will offer a more flexible configuration through up to “20 CPU PCIe 4.0 lanes”.
In terms of videos, Intel Quick Sync Video will take care of converting files of one type or codec to another type of file. Finally, they indicated that the Rocket Lake-S will include “new overclocking functions.”
