Instagram launches a function to avoid cyberbullying

The social network made it possible for users to restrict those accounts that everyone considers annoying

The Instagram company made its new function accessible to everyone, which allows the user to restrict those accounts that practice cyberbullying, and that responds to a new strategy that seeks to prevent the situation from getting worse for the user and, on the contrary, grants him greater control over your experience in the social network.

Harassment on the Internet and especially on Instagram, is a problem that the company tried to solve in various ways. Therefore, the company developed a new formula against harassment, the function of restricting, which first tested in July and this Wednesday began to be distributed to all users.

The purpose of this function is to end unwanted interactions. When the user selects an account to restrict, that account can continue commenting on the posts but with the difference that the comment will only be visible to the sender. Neither the user nor his followers will receive this message, unless the account he restricts allows his followers to read this message.

What has prompted Instagram to create this new function was that previous measures, such as blocking, unfollowing or reporting comments, often aggravated the situation.

However, this tool does not allow the restricted person to know that it has been and will not be able to see if the user is active on Instagram or has read their direct messages.
