India will carry out a banking research linked to blockchain

The Indian Prime Minister, Narenda Modi, together with the trade union cabinet, authorized the Export-Import Bank to carry out a research related to the blockchain technology together with the members of the BRCIS economic bloc, which includes Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.
According to several sources, the Exim Bank has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the consent of the Inter-Bank Cooperation Mechanism.
At the moment the investigation is already under way and is being conducted by the National Bank of Economic and Social Development of Brazil, the Development Bank of China, Vnesheconombank of Russia and the Development Bank of South Africa, according to the statement.
“Specifically, the banks intend to improve the understanding of distributed blockchain technology, through joint research efforts to identify areas within the respective business operations where it could have the potential of applications aimed at improving operating efficiencies”, said a statement from the Financial Express.
The objective of the banks is to improve the understanding in terms of ledger technology, through the results obtained from the research. The report explains that the measure is also aimed at developing a digital economy in India.
