IMF will support Ecuador’s economic plan

Ecuador recently signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund through which it will receive US $ 4.2 billion to support a set of internal policies

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recently signed an agreement with Ecuador, through which the nation will receive an average of US $ 4.2 billion in support of various projects.

Although approval from the IMF Executive Board is still lacking – which is expected to happen in a few weeks – the Ecuadorian authorities expect the support to be finalized and perpetuated for three years.

According to the head of the IMF mission for Ecuador, the goal of the government has always been – and thus remains – to improve the standard of living of citizens, as well as to boost the economy, create jobs and implement plans that optimize national development.

The Inter-American Development Bank, the Development Bank of Latin America, the World Bank, and the Latin American Reserve Fund are also involved in this fund support plan.

Ecuador strives for a sustainable, dynamic and inclusive economy, based on four principles: “boost competitiveness and the creation of jobs, protect the poor and the most vulnerable, strengthen fiscal sustainability and the institutional foundations of Ecuador’s dollarization and improve transparency and strengthen the fight against corruption.”
