Images of Jupiter surprise NASA

NASA's Juno spacecraft becomes a promising probe after sending images of Jupiter with impressive precision

Juno took off in 2011 from Earth to collect data from Jupiter and be part of NASA’s New Frontiers space program. It reached the planet’s orbit on July 5th, 2016 and since then a 5-year mission has been initiated before its return.

The purpose of the mission is to study the planet’s atmosphere, its origin, structure, and evolution within the Solar System, in addition to helping to understand its formation.

The video recorded lasts only 6 seconds and shows the close-ups collected by the JunoCam image generator. Scientists are using this device to study the structure of the Great Red Spot, it is the largest anticyclonic vortex of Jupiter.

The researchers want the shots to help them study Jupiter’s unique circumpolar cyclones and high-altitude storms and they are really valuable images to do so.
