Bogotá is one of the cities with the greatest demographic growth and economic dynamism in Latin America. Focusing on this dynamic, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) recently approved a conditional credit line for investment projects worth US $ 600 million.

The amount includes $ 70 million for the construction of the first line of the Bogota Metro (PLMB), Section 1, with a 20-year amortization and a 5.5-year disbursement period.

In this sense, the local authorities work in the program called “Better Mobility for All”, which includes the public transport system and the aforementioned PLMB, which will be extended by 23.96 kilometers and will be one hundred percent elevated.

The study for the development of the project included 31 indicators, among which are environmental, urban, constructive, social, financial and risk items. It is expected that Bogotá’s electric metro will reduce 36,000 tons of CO2 in the Capital District. Likewise, they anticipate that it will mobilize 990 thousand passengers per day.

The construction will include Building Information Modeling (BIM), will feature automatic driving trains as well as state-of-the-art security cameras, optimal signage at stations and ramps for access by people with disabilities.
