IBM created blockchain platform for farmers

The companyindicated it aims to provide aid to field workers

The IBM company, one of the largest in terms of technology, announced the use of a blockchain platform to support the work of African farmers.

This initiative aims to expand the client portfolio of the American company beyond the traditional hardware and software for computers.

Through a statement, the company said that “in Sub-Saharan Africa, more than 60% of the crops are handled manually, with less than 20% handled by tractors and other machinery, an unsustainable model as the demand for food increases due to the population growth that averages 11 million per year. In addition, up to 50% of farmers suffer losses after harvest each year due to poor planting practices.”

This application will combat the problem with a prediction regarding the value of the harvest, all thanks to blockchain technology, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

On the other hand, this app can track the activities carried out by farmers to provide reliable and updated information 24 hours a day to banks and other financial institutions.
