Huawei denies alleged links with Chinese government

Australia's allegations have been denied by Jeremy Mitchell, Huawei's Director of Corporate Affairs in the country

Huawei, the leading manufacturer of telecommunications technology, rejected Australia’s accusations of possible links with the Chinese government and the negative effect this could have on its participation in an infrastructure project in the west of the country.

The security statements have burned down the media. The statements of representatives of Huawei in Australia have not been kept awake. They indicate that the accusations have no legal base and come out from distorted information.

Huawei started activities in Australia in 2014 as the main provider of mobile network equipment and infrastructure. However, recently they have been criticized by officials of the US Department of Security.

The situation has raised suspicions in the Australian authorities, where Huawei is expected to join an infrastructure project. The negotiations have been marred by accusations that were denied by the manufacturer’s representatives.

Moreover, last May Canberra committed millions of dollars to ensure that Huawei could not carry out the installation of an Internet cable between Australia and the Solomon Islands. This has aggravated the situation between the manufacturer and the Australian authorities, which are currently at a critical point.
