Google heeded the fine imposed by the EU

The company responded to the accusation for the positioning they have had with Android announcing a modification in its business model

After the sanctions issued by the European Union (EU) to Google for the dominant way as they have been treating their position through Android, Google decided to respond with new actions.

The company decided to make certain adjustments in its business form for Android devices in the European Economic Area, in order to comply with EU requirements, as announced in an official statement.

From October 29th this year, the world’s largest search engine will then offer a new business model for its Android operating system, which will remain free and open source.

The most important change is that manufacturers will have to pay a license to pre-install Play Store, where the unspecified amount will also allow the installation of other Google applications such as YouTube, Maps and Drive.

With this, it will now be possible to obtain the licenses in the Google application suite independently.
