Gessen: Military high command has the power of change in Venezuela

This was stated by the psychologist, journalist and Venezuelan political analyst Vladimir Gessen, on the Camilo program of the US network CNN

Faced with the fight to get the power in Venezuela between the ruler Nicolás Maduro and the president (E) Juan Guaidó, the military high command is the one who really has power in the country, according to the statements made by the psychologist, journalist and Venezuelan political analyst Vladimir Gessen on the Camilo program of the US network CNN.

He explained that this scenario is appreciated by observing that Maduro is constantly asking the Armed Forces to be faithful to the “Bolivarian Revolution“, while Guaidó requests that he be recognized as the “legitimate president” of Venezuela.

However, Gessen states that the high command does not exercise power and allows the “National Liberation Army (ELN in Spanish) to control the mining arch, that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) take part of the territory and paramilitary groups called ‘collectives’ act in areas of Caracas.”

In that sense, he denounced that “there are armed groups in Caracas neighborhoods and various sectors of the country that control the water and food packages distributed by the State, further disarming the country.”

In a message addressed to his namesake defense minister, Vladimir Padrino López, Gessen questioned the fact why he does not solve the problem, since, according to him, they are responsible for “Venezuela becoming Syria or not (…). You, gentlemen, take real power, take out and evict all, call the Academies, Churches and form a transitional state to then go to elections.

After carrying out this process, the specialist indicated that democratic rules should be established so that both Maduro and Guaidó or the left and right forces go to elections in prudential time.

Finally, he asked the military to put Venezuela in order, because “the country is dying.”
