French agency certifies Ledger wallet

The "First Level Security Certification" was granted to the Nano S wallet of the French firm Ledger

The startup said that it is the first certification given by the National Agency for Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) of France, authority in cybersecurity. The firm is the first to receive the license for a cryptocurrency private key device.

It should be noted that the ANSII was created in 2009 and is a government institution attached to the General Secretariat of Defense and National Security (SGDSN) of France, a branch of the French Prime Minister.

The published statement says that the Nano S cold wallet was evaluated in several categories, including firewall, identification, authentication, access, secure communications and integrated software. Eric Larchevêque, CEO of Ledger, argues that it is of great value that a trusted third party certifies the safety of the products.

The evaluation carried out by the agency states that the certificate covers only version 1.5.1 of the Ledger Nano S. In the same way, it states that the product complies with the required safety features in accordance with current regulations. In addition, the company has its own internal and external security programs.
