France will evaluate the use of security tokens
The French market regulator proposed the creation of a Digital Laboratory to investigate the impact of measures related to the world of EU cryptocurrencies
The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) proposed to create a digital laboratory in order to study the impact of the security tokens of the European Union.
This measure seeks to assess the pros and cons of cryptocurrencies, within a possible new jurisdiction for European companies.
The AMF hopes that the environment for a market infrastructure for security tokens will be developed soon, so that it can “lead to a secure legal environment.”
The French body added that blockchain technology, being decentralized, can be a legal obstacle to its adoption in finance. Additionally, token trading may be subject to current regulation; platforms that provide investment services must do so through authorizations from financial service providers or advisers.
Current regulations do not allow full settlements of security tokens within the blockchain environment; This rule would cause the crypto asset to go through an authorized broker.
