Facebook launches application to design memes
The social network launched in Canada, and silently, the Whale app to help users easily create memes
Whale, the new Facebook app that allows users to create memes in a simple way, could be a combination of two previous products: LOL, app launched in beta to create and share memes, and Rosetta, AI tool capable of reading and interpret the text of the memes.
The creation of these fun “imitations” catches the attention of young people, mainly. And it is this segment that occupies Facebook developers and creatives.
Experimental phase
The launch of Whale took place last week, silently, in the Canadian market. It is available in the App Store of the North American country and according to the product description, allows the user to edit their own photos or images from the library. “Then you can share your creations on social media platforms like Instagram and Messenger.”
Whale is an experimental Facebook application. It is not yet known if it will be launched worldwide or if it will be official one day. However, this is likely to happen soon thanks to the popularity of memes.
