Facebook launches app for gamers
The social network created a platform that will allow Android and iOS users to broadcast their video game live
Facebook launched its new Facebook Gaming application, which allows Android users to watch and create broadcasts of video game games is streaming, as well as directly play some titles.
Facebook Gaming, which is available on the Google Play platform for Android devices since Monday, allows users to discover content about video games, such as live broadcasts of games.
This application also allows users to connect with content creators, through functions such as an integrated chat, as well as make their own streaming of video games themselves, as stated in the app page.
Likewise, Facebook Gaming also allows video games such as Everwing, Words with Friends and Basketball FRVR, among others, present on Facebook’s Instant Games platform to play “instantly” and with other users.
The social network already had a tab with exclusively video game content, but with the launch of Facebook Gaming the company seeks to compete with other similar applications such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming and Amazon Mixer.
Facebook Gaming joins other news recently announced by the social network such as the holding of video game tournaments, which has been in early access from this April.
The iOS application will arrive as soon as it receives approval from Apple, as a spokesperson for the company told The New York Times.
