Facebook improves content moderation with AI

The social network opted for the use of artificial intelligence to better detect the misuse of publications

Facebook improved the use of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms on its platform to prioritize posts that must pass review by a moderator, rather than the chronological order used so far.

When Facebook’s algorithm detects content that violates its policies, it most often removes it or reduces its visibility. However, some posts require someone to review them, to determine if they actually share disallowed content.

The new artificial intelligence that launched the social network, uses machine learning to prioritize those publications that, due to their content, require urgent evaluation by a moderator.

This is a new tool that will streamline the queue of content pending review. Previously, posts were reviewed in a chronological order, based on when the report was made, which slowed down the process.
