Facebook earnings fall due to possible fines

The social network is waiting for a sanction around 3,000 million dollars due to its controversial way of managing the personal data of users

Facebook social network is waiting for a fine by the US authorities, which could be located around 3,000 million dollars.

The main reason should be the controversial way in which Facebook has been managing the personal data of its users, which has also caused a decrease in its profits for the first quarter of the year.

During this period, the network created by Mark Zuckerberg barely obtained 2,430 million dollars in profits.

One of the forecasts taken by the company was to set aside the provisions for the fine imposed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

“In the first quarter, we reasonably estimated a probable loss and recorded $ 3 billion related to the FTC’s research on our platform and user data practices,” the social network noted. However, they indicated that it is likely that the total amount transcends up to 5,000 million dollars.

The US press reported in recent weeks of negotiations between Facebook and the regulatory agency on the amount of the fine, calculating a figure of up to 2,000 million dollars.
