Facebook Dating is available in the United States

The Facebook most recent app was launched in the North American country but will expand to the rest of the world very soon

The Facebook Dating service is available since Thursday in the United States, with reinforced privacy and security measures that unlink the profile of the main social network and allow sharing the details and location of an appointment with trusted contacts.

Facebook Dating is a service associated with the main social network, but that requires the creation of a new profile. However, as explained by the company in a statement, users can integrate their Instagram posts, soon also the “Stories”, and also add followers from this app and Facebook friends to their secret contacts list in which they are interested.

This service “makes it easier to find love through what you like,” they explain from Facebook, and to “create meaningful relationships” through those in common.

However, they point out that finding a romantic partner is deeply personal and therefore they have reinforced privacy and security measures.

In this sense, the dating service is an experience not linked to Facebook, and those who want to use it will have to choose to specifically create a profile on it, which can be removed at any time.

This separation is also reflected in the contents. The activity of the users in Dating will not appear in the newsfeed nor the profile of the main social network. Facebook friends will not know if the user has a profile in the dating service, unless told.
