The social network, which has its European base of operations in Dublin, explained in a statement that “this assistance item will combine cash with advertising credits, so that SMEs can reset, rebuild and recover its operations”.

In this regard, it was indicated that the beneficiary companies must be based in the capital or in the counties of Cork and Meath in Ireland, where Facebook has offices and data centers.

On the other hand, the vice president of Facebook’s Global Business Group, Ciaran Quilty, indicated: “We recognize that SMEs need liquidity, training, digitization and assistance to improve social connection infrastructures as consumer habits move to the net”.

In addition, Quilty stressed that “a little financial help can go a long way”, demonstrating his confidence by stating that “grants and online training programs contribute to the survival and recovery of this sector during the Covid-19 crisis.”
