The social network Facebook is currently testing, with a small group of users, the new function that allows up to 5 profiles to be linked to one account.
Some critics have pointed out that the measure seeks to give a boost to the social network that has been experiencing a loss of interest and even abandonment since 2020 by users around the world.
Meta is betting that Facebook users feel more confident and decide to choose what information they share through different accounts within the same network. It is possible that the measure will increase the inclusion of advertising and interaction in the social network.
Facebook seeks to regain user trust
The new function is in a trial period, with a certain group of users, who will be able to create up to four new profiles in addition to the original one. Meta will not request that they use their real names, so in each additional profile the identity may be different, depending on the personal facet that the user wishes to share.
From Meta, they have indicated that the initiative, in accordance with the new reality of the metaverse, could be the way to “recover the interest of users and give them greater control over what they show and what they see.”
