European banking requests about 15,000 million euros to the ECB
European banks have requested 14,869.5 million euros from the European Central Bank in the two liquidity auctions that the issuing institute held this Tuesday
Most of the funds, as every week, have been requested in the twelfth round of long-term financing operations (LTRO) that the ECB announced to respond to liquidity demands from banks until June, such as part of his first response to Covid-19.
A total of 30 entities have requested 14,480.5 million euros from the ECB, 22% less than in the previous round. The interest rate will be the one applied to the deposit facility rate, currently situated at -0.5%, so the banks will charge the ECB 72.4 million to borrow these funds.
The entities will receive the amount this Wednesday and the due date will be next June 24, when the fourth round of the TLTRO-III auctions will be awarded. Since these operations began, the banks have requested a total of € 375,043.45 million from the issuing institute.
On its side, the ECB’s ordinary weekly auction has resulted in liquidity requests worth 389 million euros from nine financial institutions, to which the reference interest rate for refinancing operations will be applied, and which is currently located at 0%.
