Europe could land on the Moon in 2025

The expedition would be conformed only by astronauts and European companies

The European Space Agency (ESA) commissioned the aerospace firm ArianeGroup a previous investigation to explore the Moon in 2025 with the help of a lander.

André-Hubert Roussel, president of ArianeGroup, said: “The purpose of the mission is to explore the regolith, a type of mineral from which it is possible to extract water and oxygen allowing thus to project an autonomous human presence on the Moon.” If the mission is carried out, it will be the first time that Europe explores the Moon.

For various leaders, Europe must have its place in the conquest of space, which is essential for the future of humanity. The goal is for European astronauts to step on the satellite in the 2030s.

If the project is approved, ArianeGroup will lead a purely European consortium that includes ArianeSpace that will provide the Ariane 6 shuttle, the German company PTScientist responsible for the landing module and the Belgian SME Space Application Services that will provide the communication equipment.

To conclude, it is opportune to remember that this plan is announced the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the first steps of man on the Moon.
