Euro digital would arrive in five years
Several industry experts say the first proof of concept could be ready between 2024 and 2025
Experts from the European economic sector say that the first proof of concept of the digital euro could arrive between four and five years.
During a panel titled “Upgrading money to the digital age: Introducing the digital euro“, the participants gathered opinions regarding the implementation of this type of asset in the European economy.
Everyone agreed that the current task was primarily to get everyone to get on board with the details of a digital euro, putting any actual implementation in the future.
Central bank digital currencies, or CBDCs, have been an extremely popular topic of debate in recent years, but especially since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
