EU could authorize the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine very soon

The European Union would plan to use this drug for the coronavirus next week, according to the EMA

The coronavirus vaccine developed by US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German partner Biontech could be approved in the European Union (EU) next week, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced.

The EMA reported that on December 21st it will present its evaluation on the emergency vaccine against the coronavirus, eight days ahead of schedule. It is considered almost certain that the European entity based in Amsterdam will give the green light to its approval.

The approval of the drug developed by Pfizer and Biontech will clear the way for mass vaccination in all EU member states.

The EMA stressed that no concessions will be made regarding safety standards: “A marketing authorization will ensure that vaccines meet the same strict EU standards that apply to all vaccines and medicines.”
