The video website, Youtube, announced this Mars that it will pay 100 million dollars to accredited content creators on its new Shorts platform, designed to compete with the popular Chinese entertainment platform, TikTok.

Although the number of creators who will be part of the project has not yet been defined, it is known that the amount will be distributed among the winners of the contest, who will previously enter a selection process between 2021 and 2022 and chosen based on their popularity, such as indicated in the corporate YouTube blog.

In the announcement it can be detailed that: “Every month we will go to thousands of creators whose videos have achieved more reproductions and popularity to reward them for their contributions.”

The creations that are made to opt for the award must be their own and original to each creator and respect the community rules of YouTube.

It is important to mention that the Shorts service was launched on March 18 and is distinguished from the main YouTube portal because its contents are short, in the style of the Chinese application TikTok, very popular among teenagers.
