OpenAI has positioned itself as the world’s most valuable startup after the successful closing of its employee stock sale, which gave it a $500 billion boost.

“In this latest transaction, OpenAI has allowed current and former employees to sell portions of their stakes for a total consideration of $6.6 billion. Buyers include major investors such as SoftBank, Thrive Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Abu Dhabi’s MGX, and T. Rowe Price.”

Sam Altman’s startup marks a milestone in the market, displacing Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the development of artificial intelligence in the international market.

OpenAI’s financial move “underscores the importance of providing liquidity to employees as a way to retain and attract talent in an increasingly competitive sector. This strategy responds to the context of strong rivalry among technology companies interested in consolidating highly qualified teams.”

The company has also forged ahead in establishing strategic alliances with some of the largest leaders in the technology industry, most notably with Nvidia, the artificial intelligence chip manufacturer with the largest global market capitalization, currently valued at $4.5 trillion.
