According to Reuters, “the proceeds are held in banks under U.S. supervision and Qatari jurisdiction. This Arab country acts as a neutral ground to prevent seizures, ensuring that the funds are managed in accordance with the orders issued by Washington.”

US President Donald Trump had already detailed that the plan includes the sale of up to 50 million barrels in collaboration with US companies.

Trump said he spoke with Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, about key issues such as “oil, trade, and national security, projecting that Venezuela will soon be great and prosperous again.” He clarified, however, that the money destined for the South American nation will be used “exclusively to purchase products manufactured in the United States, at the discretion of his administration.”

It is important to remember that the United States is facilitating the entry of various trading companies into Venezuela for their participation in the oil industry, “reaffirming its strategy of control over natural resources and the stabilization of the region.”

Trump has landed at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta (Georgia), showing a thumbs up to the media, while he got off his private plane to get into a car that has taken him to prison.

The ex-president, who accepted a bail of $200,000, will formalize the process before the prison as well as the other 18 co-defendants in the plot, who have been turning themselves in progressively before this Friday, when the term given by the Prosecutor’s Office expires.

In one of his latest messages on the Truth Social social network, Trump has stated that he will be arrested by a “radical left district attorney“, referring to Fani Willis, who is leading the case, at the same time that he has defended, as he has done other times, that the elections were rigged.

In addition, they will file a petition to have Judge Tanya Chutkan removed from the case due to concerns about her impartiality.

Last Thursday, Trump pleaded not guilty to the four charges against him, related to his alleged attempts to reverse the election results that pitted him against Joe Biden, as well as his alleged instigation of the assault on the Capitol on January 6 of 2021.

Through a post on social networks, the former president described the case against him as “absurd” and argued that he cannot expect a fair trial under the supervision of the current judge. In his words, he expressed that the general perception is that a fair trial would be difficult to achieve with the current judge in charge.

Additionally, Trump again directed criticism at the special counsel in the case, Jack Smith, whom he called “insane.” He hinted that the Justice Department may be investigating Smith for his role as President Joe Biden’s main opponent in the context of next year’s election.

Trump’s trial is scheduled to begin on November 7 in federal court in the District of Columbia. If carried out, it would be historic, since it would be the first federal legal process in which a former President of the United States is prosecuted for alleged crimes.

The leader of the main cryptocurrency exchange in the United States is scheduled to meet confidentially with the Democratic members of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the United States Congress.

This private meeting will take place with the members of the Coalition of New Democrats, a group made up of more than 100 members who are committed to economic growth, innovation and fiscally responsible policies, as detailed on their website. According to close sources who spoke with Bloomberg, the meeting is scheduled to take place next Wednesday morning.

The central topic of the meeting will be legislation on digital assets, although other related issues will also be addressed, such as tax regulations, implications for national security, privacy concerns and environmental aspects.

Armstrong has been actively advocating for clearer cryptocurrency regulations and guidelines in Washington, and has urged lawmakers to consider two recent bills, as The Block recalled in its report.

In April, Coinbase took an unprecedented step by suing US regulators with the aim of obtaining greater regulatory clarity for the burgeoning digital asset industry. The lawsuit specifically directed the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with the request that it “propose and adopt rules” for the industry, although the results of this effort have so far been inconclusive.

The meeting with Democrats comes at a critical time for the US cryptocurrency industry, as it has faced increasing regulatory crackdown this year. In June, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Coinbase accusing them of violating federal securities law. This action was not isolated, as the federal agency has also taken legal action against other competing exchanges, including Binance.

This would be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, so the date change due to the fact that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, is currently going through a coronavirus case, has generated high expectations in Buenos Aires.

It was learned that the announcement of the suspension of the meeting was announced by the Argentine ambassador to the United States, Jorge Argüello, in the morning hours of this Friday, without giving further details of the next date for the meeting.

In any case, information has been leaked from the White House that they must wait for President Biden to have two negative tests for coronavirus, but this “is uncertain.”

The agenda of this meeting that has been postponed included issues such as the agreement between Argentina and the International Monetary Fund last March to refinance the debt of some 45,000 million dollars in addition to the “obligations that this agreement entails for the South American country, such as a reduction in public spending, which is resisted by social organizations and unions and a more leftist wing of the government”.

The president advocates a more inclusive policy towards all nations.

The summit is the key stage for the discussion of relevant issues for multilateral relations in the continent, the development and understanding of the peoples. Until now, the expectation is maintained regarding the fact of whether or not the United States will invite the nations until now excluded, such as Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua. According to various media outlets, Joe Biden would be evaluating the situation and in a few hours he would announce whether he will maintain the exclusion of these three countries.

A diverse and inclusive America

As will be recalled, the United States announced on May 2 that Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua would not be invited to the Summit of the Americas because they are countries that disrespect democracy.

López Obrador declared that he would not attend the American event if the host does not invite these countries that are also part of the American continent. This position was supported by Bolivia and the countries that make up the Caribbean Community (Caricom).

The president of Mexico has indicated that the appointment could facilitate the beginning of a policy between the American countries where diversity and inclusion are part of this new strategy. “I have confidence in President Joe Biden, I think he could take this step and put back all that anachronistic, unfair, subordinate policy, disrespectful of independence, of the sovereignty of peoples.”

The president of the organization, David Malpass, considers that the “generous commitment” by the partners is essential to “support poor countries in their efforts to recover from the Covid-19 crisis.”

The bank, which is based in Washington, reported that this is one of the largest contributions that the International Development Association (IDA) has made to 74 countries, most of which are African.

The statement specifies that the resources include 23,500 million dollars in contributions from the 48 countries considered high and middle income, in addition to financing obtained in capital markets and contributions from the World Bank itself.

The funds are intended to help countries better train themselves to cope with difficulties such as pandemics, financial crises and natural disasters. Although the resources are for the different countries of the world, Africa is the continent that benefits the most because it receives 70 % of the fund’s resources.

IDA fund resources are reset every three years, but as a result of the pandemic, the last cash injection was brought forward one year and will run until June 2025.

Trump made these statements to journalists at the White House shortly before leaving for a trip to Texas, where he will visit the construction work on the border wall, and amid the political tension that the country is experiencing after the chaotic days of last week.

In her view, the impeachment announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, is “absolutely ridiculous and a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics, something that is causing tremendous anger.”

Likewise, the Democrats announced that they will accuse the president of the charge of “inciting insurrection.” When asked if he plans to resign, as requested by the Democratic opposition, Trump avoided giving a direct answer. “We don’t want violence,” he said.
