A US federal judge finally cleared Binance.US’s acquisition of Voyager Digital, an acquisition that had been proposed late last year.

Michael Wiles of the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York issued preliminary approval to proceed with the transaction.

The judge asked the lawyers working on the settlement to review the proposal. It also lacks the approval of the majority of Voyager’s creditors, who will have to vote to decide on the matter.

It should be remembered that this company was originally going to be acquired by FTX, however the deal fell apart after the Sam Bankman-Fried exchange collapsed in November.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao announced that its US subsidiary is about to make an offer to acquire the company Voyager, which is currently bankrupt.

“Binance.US will make another offer for Voyager now, as FTX can no longer follow through on that commitment,” the crypto exchange CEO said.

Zhao also took the opportunity to talk about the possible influence of SBF and FTX, who allegedly spread that Binance’s offer for Voyager represented a threat to US national security.

This argument stems from the alleged ties between the CEO of the exchange and the Chinese government.

“I think the concern for the national security of the United States is rumors spread by the FTX to try to keep us from the candidacy. There was never any concern about our participation in the auction,” Zhao said.

Binance US is fully under US regulation, so there is no relationship with the Chinese government, said the businessman of Asian origin.
